Matter partners with Airtel for IoT-powered AERA motorbikes
Matter Motor Works, an EV start-up, has announced a strategic partnership with telecommunications service provider Bharti Airtel. The partnership aims to deploy Airtel’s IoT solution in Matter AERA – India’s first geared electric motorbike.
As part of the collaboration, Airtel will enable advanced automotive-grade eSIMs on all Matter AERA bikes. Initially, 60,000 bikes will be equipped with Airtel eSIMs, offering advanced IoT features and a connected experience on Airtel’s nationwide network. Matter Motor Works plans to produce over 300,000 AERA bikes within the next three years. The pre-bookings for Matter AERA bikes opened on 17th May 2023.
Airtel’s IoT platform, called ‘Airtel IoT Hub‘, will facilitate real-time vehicle tracking, performance monitoring, and analytics while ensuring high reliability and security.
Harish Laddha, CEO of Emerging Business at Airtel, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and the opportunity to provide cutting-edge IoT solutions for connected mobility. He said that Airtel is committed to driving the IoT agenda and is currently collaborating with various industries, including electric vehicles, automotive, utilities, logistics, and fintech. He also believes that Airtel will play a critical role in India’s IoT journey and help companies embrace technology to deliver efficient services and solutions.
