Maruti Suzuki launches unified EV charging platform in India
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced the launch of an integrated digital platform for electric vehicle (EV) charging, covering both home and public charging requirements. The company has entered into collaboration agreements with 13 Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and aggregators, enabling access to charging infrastructure through a single platform.
Under this initiative, more than 2,000 Maruti Suzuki-branded charging points are currently available across its sales and service network in over 1,100 cities. The company plans to work with its partners to enable over 1,00,000 public charging points in India by 2030.
To demonstrate charging network availability, four e VITARA EVs were flagged off from Gurugram to Srinagar (North), Kanyakumari (South), Bhuj (West), and Dibrugarh (East) as part of the “e drive” initiative. The e VITARA Born EV, manufactured in India and exported to international markets, has been tested across temperature conditions ranging from 60°C to -30°C. The model has a certified driving range of 543 km for the 61 kWh battery pack, as per government testing norms. Actual range may vary depending on driving and environmental conditions.
Commenting on the development, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company aims to support EV charging access by combining its dealer charging network with CPO partnerships. He said the goal is to expand towards more than 1 lakh public charging points by 2030.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, stated that the company plans to position charging points at an approximate distance of 5–10 km in key locations across the top 100 cities, along with DC fast chargers at selected highways. He also said that more than 1,500 service workshops have been made EV-ready, supported by a trained workforce of 1.5 lakh people.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the ‘e for me’ mobile application, enabling usage of charging points from both partner-operated networks and Maruti Suzuki charging stations. Key functionalities include:
- Locating and accessing charging points
- Payment through UPI or Maruti Suzuki Money
- Integrated home and public charging management
- Remote control of smart home chargers
- In-car app mirroring via the infotainment system
- “Tap N Charge” card support at dealer outlets and home charging points
The app will be available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
