Mahindra unveils XEV 9S electric SUV | Prices start at ₹19.95 lakh
On November 27, 2025, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited (MEAL), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., announced the launch of the Mahindra XEV 9S, a 7-seater electric SUV built on the INGLO platform, with introductory prices starting at ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The model will be available in six variants, with the Pack Three Above (79 kWh) version priced at ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings will open on January 14, 2026, and customer deliveries will begin on January 23, 2026. Test drives are scheduled to begin from January 5, 2026.
The XEV 9S is targeted at the domestic market and will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. The current operational production capacity for electric-origin SUVs at this plant is 5,000 units per month, which is planned to increase to 8,000 units per month by the end of FY26 through a phased ramp-up. The annual installed capacity of the facility is 90,000 units, scheduled to reach 120,000 units per year after ongoing expansion.
Mahindra reports that the XEV 9S uses an LFP battery with a lifetime warranty and claims 500 km real-world range, 0–100 km/h in 7 seconds, and 202 km/h top speed. Estimated running and maintenance costs are ₹1.2/km and ₹0.40/km, with 40% depreciation benefit for business buyers.
The Mahindra XEV 9S will be offered different battery and power configurations. Pack ONE Above includes 59 kWh and 79 kWh options with power outputs of 170 kW and 210 kW, offering 521 km and 679 km range. Pack TWO Above features 70 kWh and 79 kWh packs delivering 180 kW and 210 kW, with a range of 600 km and 679 km. Pack THREE and Pack THREE Above use a 79 kWh battery with a 210 kW motor and 679 km claimed range. All variants deliver 380 Nm torque, RWD, adjustable regeneration levels (L0–L3 & Auto), single-pedal drive, and multiple drive modes (Default, Range, Everyday, Race, Snow).
Feature highlights include three-row seating, 150 L frunk, up to 527 L boot space, 4076 L cabin volume, adaptive suspension, brake-by-wire, L2+ ADAS, driver drowsiness monitoring, Secure360 Pro camera system, 16-speaker audio system, three 31.24-cm screens, 5G connectivity, wireless charging, digital key with NFC, and 205 mm ground clearance.
As part of the previously announced ₹16,000 crore investment plan for electric SUVs (FY22–FY27), ₹4,500 crore was allocated for the XEV 9e and BE 6 models. An additional ₹2,000 crore has been committed for the XEV 9S (including BE 6 Formula E edition), taking cumulative planned investment to ₹6,500 crore. Funding will be through internal accruals and capital investment from partners including British International Investment Plc (BII) and Jongsong Investments Pte Ltd (Temasek).
