Kinetic Green and Exponent Energy announce 15-minute charging solution for electric three-wheelers

Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Ltd., a manufacturer of electric two- and three-wheelers, has partnered with Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy, a startup developing charging ecosystems for commercial EVs, to introduce a 15-minute charging solution for L5 and L3 electric three-wheelers, including e-rickshaws and e-carts. The collaboration aims to support last-mile mobility operators in urban and semi-urban areas.

Under the collaboration, Kinetic Green’s L3 models—Safar Smart, Safar Shakti, and Super DX—will support 15-minute charging, allowing short charging breaks and extending daily operating hours by up to 30 percent, according to the company.

The L5N Safar Jumbo loader, used in logistics applications, will also feature the 15-minute charging system to reduce turnaround time. The upcoming L5M passenger variant, designed for intercity routes and capable of up to 50 km/h, is expected to adopt the same charging technology.

According to the company, Exponent Energy’s platform—which includes battery technology, a charging network, and software—supports 15-minute charging and offers an estimated 3,000-cycle battery warranty. The system is compatible with Exponent’s charging network and provides tools for real-time charge status, maintenance alerts, and fleet data analysis. Exponent currently operates more than 160 charging stations in four cities, with plans to expand to additional metros and tier II/III cities over the next year. Its cloud-based dashboard will be integrated with Kinetic Green’s fleet management application.
