E-2W and E-3W (Cargo & Passenger) vehicles accounted for 1,11,451 of the total 1,16,651 electric vehicles sold in October 2022.
Category-Wise Sales Trend from October 2021 to October 2022
- In October 2022, 76,657 high speed e-2Ws were sold, compared to 19,264 units sold in October 2021. Sales of the Electric 3W Passenger Vehicle (L3+L5) reached 31,835 units, a 94.8 per cent increase over the same month last year.
- Sales of Electric 3W Cargo Vehicles increased from 1,671 units in October 2021 to 2,959 units in October 2022, while the sales of e-4W rose from 1,320 units to 4,935 units over the last year.
EV Penetration in 2W Sales from Oct-21 to Oct-22
In October 2022, electric vehicles made up 4.49% of the total 2Ws sold across India, up from 1.90% in October 2021.
High Speed E-2Ws Sales trend by OEM
OLA Electric sold the highest number of e-2Ws in October 2022 followed by Okinawa Autotech and Ampere Vehicles. OLA Electric registered a 63.79% M-o-M increase in sales of their electric scooter.
3-Wheeler Passenger Sales Trend by Fuel Type, Oct’21-Oct’22
In October 2022, 55% of the total 3W Passenger Vehicles sold were electric, up from 50% in the same month last year.

For E-3W Passenger vehicles, the top 10 OEMs contributed only 44% of the total sales in OCT 2022. Both L3 and L5 Electric 3-Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, YC Electric Vehicle and Saera Electric are the top 3 sellers of October 2022.
3-Wheeler Cargo Sales Trend by Fuel Type, Oct’21-Oct’22
For the goods 3W segment, the EV penetration rose from 22% in Oct 2021 to 33% in Oct 2022.

For E-3W Cargo vehicles, the top 10 OEMs contributed 63% of the total sales in Oct 2022. Both L3 and L5 Electric 3Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, Piaggio Vehicles and Dilli Electric Auto are the top 3 sellers of Oct 2022.
E-4W Sales Trend by OEM
For electric-4Wheeler segment, TATA Motors remained the undisputed leader with 4,277 EV Sales and a market share of 86.67% in October 2022.
