India’s Electric Vehicle sales trend | February 2025

The two-wheeler (E2W) segment led with 76,086 units in February 2025, down from 98,263 in January. E-rickshaw sales also declined from 38,823 to 32,359 units. Passenger three-wheelers (E3W L5) recorded 11,908 units in February, slightly lower than 12,881 in January, while cargo three-wheelers (E3W L5) saw a marginal dip from 2,491 to 2,448 units. E-carts, however, grew from 5,762 to 6,401 units. Four-wheeler (E4W) sales dropped from 11,766 to 8,962 units, and electric buses (E Bus) fell from 360 to 307 units. Other EVs also saw a minor decline from 638 to 557 units, reflecting a downward trend in most segments.

India’s electric vehicle (EV) market recorded sales of 1,973,654 units from March 2024 to February 2025, based on Vahan Dashboard data from 1,378 out of 1,438 RTOs across 35 out of 36 states/UTs (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Sales peaked in October 2024 (219,707 units) and March 2024 (213,107 units), while the lowest was in April 2024 (115,911 units) in the last 12 months.

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category decreased from 6.4% in January 2025 to 5.6% in February 2025.

Top players for the month are Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors and Ather Energy.

The top 3 brands for February 2025 regarding the number of electric passenger L5 3Ws registered are Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd, Bajaj Auto and Piaggio Vehicles.

In February 2025, the electric L5 three wheeler goods sales were led by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Omega Seiki and Bajaj Auto.

In February 2025, the e-rickshaw sales were led by YC Electric, SAERA Electric and Dilli Electric.

In February 2025, the e-cart sales were led by YC Electric and Saravana Engineering.

Others include Skoda, Porsche, JLR etc.

Tata Motors is the leader, with over 42% of the market share, followed closely by MG Motors.

Switch Mobility sold the most electric buses in February 2025, followed by Olectra Greentech and PMI Electro Mobility.
