India’s Electric Vehicle sales trend | April 2025

Electric vehicle sales in India saw a dip in April 2025 compared to March, with electric two-wheelers dropping sharply from 1,31,200 to 91,819 units. E4W sales fell from 13,060 to 12,251, and E3W L5 Passenger decreased slightly from 13,539 to 13,128 units. E3W L5 Cargo fell to 2,418 from 2,701. In contrast, e-rickshaw sales increased from 36,091 to 39,524, and e-carts rose from 7,221 to 7,463. E-bus sales remained steady at 284 units in April, up from 277 in March.

India recorded 20,18,429 EV sales from May 2024 to Apr 2025, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in October 2024 (2,19,715) and were lowest in Feb 2025 (1,40,096).

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category decreased from 8.7% in March 2025 to 5.5% in April 2025.

The top 3 brands for April 2025 for electric passenger 3Ws registered are Bajaj Auto, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd, and TVS Motor.

In April 2025, the electric three wheeler goods sales were led by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Bajaj Auto, and Omega Seiki.

In April 2025, the e-rickshaw sales were led by YC Electric, SAERA Electric and Dilli Electric.

In April 2025, the e-cart sales were led by J.S. Auto and YC Electric.

Others include Skoda, Porsche, JLR etc.

Tata Motors is the leader, with over 36% of the market share, followed by MG Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.

PMI Electro Mobility sold the most electric buses in April 2025, followed by JBM Auto and Olectra Greentech.
