Government Revises ACC PLI Timeline for Ola Electric

The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Government of India, has approved revised timelines under the Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Ola Cell Technologies Private Limited (OCT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Ola Electric Mobility.

Under the revised timelines, Ola Electric will have access to the PLI scheme for its allocated 20 GWh capacity through CY2031. The company said it could receive up to ₹7,240 crore in cumulative PLI incentives, with disbursements scheduled quarterly from the next quarter.

The revised timelines extend the original implementation period by two years.

Ola Electric currently has 2.5 GWh of installed cell-manufacturing capacity, with another 3.5 GWh under installation. The company expects to reach 6 GWh by the end of the current quarter, ahead of the revised December 2026 milestone.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric, said: “The revised timeline is more than an extension. It transforms the economics of our cell business by converting an earlier milestone overhang into a five-year, quarterly PLI opportunity of up to ₹7,240 crore. We hadn’t factored any incentives into our business projections after overshooting the original timelines. Ola is now well ahead of the government’s revised schedule, and enables us to access the full potential of ₹7240 crore and receive disbursement as soon as next quarter.”

The company is developing lithium-ion cells for applications including electric mobility, energy storage, drones, robotics and next-generation industrial systems. Its cell platform includes NMC and LFP chemistries, along with work on R&D, battery-material localisation, manufacturing processes and material recovery.

Ola Electric said it will also present its broader energy product roadmap at its annual Sankalp event on this Independence Day, including products named Shakti and Mahashakti.

Ola Electric operates an electric vehicle and energy technology business, with manufacturing facilities including the Ola Futurefactory and a cell-manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. Its Battery Innovation Centre is based in Bengaluru.
