Clean Electric introduces 15-minute rapid charging system for LEVs| Partners with OEMs
Clean Electric, a developer and manufacturer of EV and energy storage batteries, has introduced a 15-minute universal and interoperable rapid charging system for light electric vehicles (LEVs) at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The system, developed using the Standardized Open Network Type-6 BIS Approved Charging Standard.
The company also announced partnerships with OEMs to integrate the charging system across different EV categories:
- Bounce: Integrating Clean Electric’s system into its electric two-wheeler fleet, enabling rapid charging that offers a 60-80 km range in 15-20 minutes, improving fleet uptime and user convenience.
- Omega Seiki Mobility: Offering the fastest charging e-3W, with a 125 km range in just 15 minutes. Additionally, Clean Electric and Omega Seiki Mobility will work together to provide 15-minute charging for a 7-ton electric truck.
These collaborations aim to build a broad, interoperable charging infrastructure in India, benefiting consumers, commercial operators, and the EV ecosystem at large.
Clean Electric’s 15-minute rapid charging system is scheduled to begin mass production in March 2025 and will be deployed at public charging stations nationwide. The company is working with its partners to integrate the technology into their vehicles.
“Our 15-minute rapid charging system is a game-changer for the EV ecosystem, making electric mobility faster, more convenient, and universally accessible,” said Akash Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Clean Electric. “This innovation brings us one step closer to achieving India’s EV goals, empowering all stakeholders, from OEMs to consumers, to embrace a sustainable future.”
Vivekananda Hallekere, Co-founder and CEO of Bounce, added, “The integration of rapid and interoperable charging will accelerate EV adoption, making it easier for consumers and businesses alike to transition to electric mobility. Clean Electric’s technology is a significant step forward, making EVs more accessible to everyday users.”
Uday Narang, Founder of Omega Seiki Mobility, said, “This partnership is a game-changer for the industry, bringing universal rapid charging solutions that maximize uptime and performance for commercial EVs.”
Clean Electric’s development follows the adoption of the CCS2 charging standard in the e-4W and e-LCV segments. The Type-6 BIS-approved charging standard for low-voltage EVs (2W and 3W) will expand access to a wider network of charging infrastructure, improve utilization rates, and make fast-charging stations more viable, offering consumers faster and more reliable charging.
According to the company, their technology aims to enhance EV practicality with faster charging and broader vehicle compatibility, supporting India’s goal of 80% EV penetration in the LEV segment by 2030. The system addresses challenges related to inconsistent charging standards and the need for scalable, interoperable rapid charging infrastructure, especially in the two- and three-wheeler sectors.
