Blackbuck eV introduces its 3-axle electric bus named ELON 3X

Blackbuck eV, a Hyderabad-based start-up, is preparing to unveil the ELON 3X – a 3 Axle Electric Bus currently in pre-production. The ELON 3X model aims to enhance the public transportation experience, emphasizing a peaceful and comfortable environment for passengers. The company has plans to introduce various ELON models in the future, with production scheduled to commence in Hyderabad by the end of 2024.

Ramakrishnam Raju, Founder and CEO, mentioned that after extensive research and development, the platform has been introduced as a lighter, modular solution adhering to global standards. The 13.5-meter-long intercity ELON 3X model has been designed for domestic and international markets, focusing on passenger comfort, innovative technology, and sustainability.

Blackbuck EV highlights using innovative technology, such as an e-Axle, instead of a traditional driveshaft setup. The company aims to create a peaceful experience through a composite body structure and advanced aerospace-inspired manufacturing, ensuring a quiet, vibration-free ride for intercity travel. The advanced suspension system is designed to deliver a smooth journey across various terrains.

The driver cabin incorporates an efficient workspace. The glasshouse-style panoramic view ensures optimal visibility. Its innovative features include an e-Axle, a lightweight vehicle body, and a low centre of gravity for dynamic handling. Using durable materials reduces operating costs, making Blackbuck EV’s electric vehicles economically viable, according to a company release.

Co-founder Mrs Rama expressed satisfaction with the bus’s comfort levels. Blackbuck EV has plans for the future, with the ELON 3X being the initial offering from the ELON skateboard platform. The company plans to launch other models like ELON 2X (10.5m) and ELON 4X (14.5m) in the coming years.

The ELON 3X will be produced in Hyderabad by the end of 2024, with pre-booking discussions underway for early adopters. Raju emphasizes the ELON platform’s use of micro-factories, planning expansion across India via a franchise model to meet market demand and offer convenient service access.
