AutoNXT Introduces Autonomous Electric Aero Tiller for Soil Preparation

AutoNXT has introduced its Autonomous Electric Aero Tiller, an agricultural machine that combines an electric powertrain with autonomous navigation, implement controls and cloud-based connectivity features for soil preparation applications.

The machine uses an electric traction motor, a lithium-ion battery pack and a Battery Management System (BMS), replacing the diesel engine used in conventional tractor-based aero tiller systems. For navigation and positioning, the machine is equipped with RTK-GNSS, an IMU, wheel angle sensors and wheel encoders. Stereo cameras are used for obstacle detection and navigation around obstacles. Its autonomous control system can plan field coverage, perform headland turns, and resume operations after interruptions.

According to AutoNXT, the machine is designed for biomass mixing, soil aeration, seedbed preparation and crop residue incorporation. It monitors parameters such as ground speed, working depth and wheel slip during operation.

The Autonomous Electric Aero Tiller has a 1.8-metre working width, working depth of up to 180 mm and 36 steel aerator blades. It can operate at speeds of up to 5 km/h and has a stated field capacity of up to 1.5 acres per hour. The machine weighs approximately 450 kg and uses an 8 mm frame.

The machine also includes cloud-based connectivity and fleet management features such as live location tracking, remote monitoring, job-progress tracking, battery-health monitoring, predictive maintenance and over-the-air software updates.

The electric powertrain eliminates diesel fuel use and tailpipe emissions during operation. It also removes engine-related maintenance requirements such as oil and filter changes. The autonomous operating capability is intended to reduce the need for continuous operator involvement during repetitive field operations.
