SWITCH Mobility flags off 272 electric buses in Delhi

SWITCH Mobility (part of the Hinduja Group) flagged off 272 EiV12 low-floor electric buses in Delhi under the Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) tender. The rollout is part of a larger order of 950 electric buses for the national capital.

The flag-off ceremony was held at Ramlila Maidan and was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, Transport Commissioner Niharika Singh, and DTC Managing Director Jitender Yadav.

Under the CESL tender, SWITCH Mobility will deploy 950 electric buses across multiple depots in Delhi. The deployment is being carried out in phases, with 93 buses delivered in Phase 1 and 272 buses in Phase 2. The buses will operate from depots including Okhla Srinivas Puri (SNP), Grand Trunk Road Depot, Rajghat Bus Terminal, and others. Ohm Global Mobility will support operations and service integration of the fleet into the city’s public transport system.

The buses are manufactured at SWITCH Mobility’s facility in Tamil Nadu. The EiV12 low-floor buses feature a low-entry design with kneeling and tilting functions, floor-mounted batteries, rear-mounted charging ports, and a wheelchair ramp. The buses are equipped with a fire detection and suppression system. SWITCH iON telematics monitors over 140 parameters and provides more than 80 alerts. The buses support dual-gun fast charging and are designed for urban public transport operations.

Ganesh Mani, Chief Executive Officer of SWITCH Mobility, said, “The flag-off of 200+ SWITCH EiV12 Low Floor Buses electric buses in partnership with CESL is a significant milestone in strengthening Delhi’s electric public transport ecosystem. SWITCH Mobility is committed to collaborating with city transport authorities to deliver dependable, high-performance electric buses that can scale rapidly. Deployments like these demonstrate how electric mobility can be seamlessly integrated into urban operations while delivering tangible benefits in emissions reduction and passenger experience.”

SWITCH Mobility stated that the deployment supports Delhi’s plans to expand its electric bus fleet. The phased rollout is expected to contribute to reduced tailpipe emissions and support the city’s public transport network.

According to the company, it has deployed over 1,250 electric buses globally, covering more than 150 million kilometres. It also has over 1,000 electric light commercial vehicles in operation under the SWITCH IeV Series.
