India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in October 2025
In October 2025, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 4.6%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 34.3%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 16.8% and for 4W, it was 3.2%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

OEM wise Leading 2W Sales for ICE and EV, Oct 2025

In October 2025, the two-wheeler market remained dominated by internal combustion engine (ICE) models, with electric vehicles (EVs) gradually gaining ground. Hero MotoCorp led overall sales with 9,94,613 units, including 15,947 EVs, accounting for 1.6% of its total. Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor showed higher EV penetration at 9.6% (31,207 units) and 5.3% (29,494 units), respectively. Honda Motorcycle’s EV share was minimal at 0.05% (401 units), while Royal Enfield, Suzuki, and Yamaha reported no EV sales. Among pure EV players, Ather Energy (28,082 units), Ola Electric (16,034 units), and Ampere/Greaves (7,635 units) achieved 100% electric sales.

In October 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler (L5 passenger) market with 43,798 units, of which 17.1% (7,494 units) were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility followed with 10,661 units, maintaining a strong 96% EV share (10,238 units). Piaggio Vehicles reported 20.6% EV penetration (1,322 units), while TVS Motor achieved 51.1% (2,803 units). Other notable contributors to the expanding EV segment included Baxy with 71 units (35%), MLR Auto with 68 units (12.9%), and Atul Auto with 72 units (6.2%). TI Clean Mobility stood out with 100% electric sales (568 units), underscoring its full commitment to electric mobility.

In October 2025, Bajaj Auto topped the three-wheeler (L5 cargo) segment with total sales of 7,110 units, including 464 EVs, representing 6.5% of its volume. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility showed strong electric adoption with 55.3% (614 EVs out of 1,111 units). Atul Auto and Piaggio Vehicles reported moderate EV shares of 7.8% and 2.4%, respectively. Among fully electric players, Omega Seiki (335 units) and Euler Motors (242 units) continued to operate exclusively in the EV segment, highlighting their focused approach toward zero-emission mobility. MLR Auto and Baxy had minimal EV contributions, at 1.9% and 3.8%, respectively.

In October 2025, Maruti Suzuki led the four-wheeler market with 2,38,875 units but continued to have no EV sales. Tata Motors ranked second with 74,855 units, including 7,157 EVs (9.6% share), followed by Mahindra & Mahindra with 5.8% EV penetration (3,877 units). MG Motor India recorded the highest EV share at 78.2% (4,525 units), underscoring its strong electric focus. Hyundai (0.7%), Kia (2%), and Mercedes-Benz (4.9%) reported limited EV volumes, while Toyota, Skoda, Honda, Renault, and Nissan remained fully ICE-driven. The data positions Tata, Mahindra, and MG as key drivers of EV adoption in the passenger vehicle segment.

In October 2025, EVs accounted for 4.6% of 2W sales (down from 8.1% in September and 6.8% in October 2024). The EV share in 3W L5M passenger vehicles stood at 34.3% (lower than 37.8% in September but higher than 24.5% a year ago), while in 3W L5N cargo, it was 16.8% (down from 25.5% in September and slightly below 20% last year). Among 4Ws, EVs made up 3.2% of total sales (compared to 5.3% in September and 2.3% in October 2024). Goods carriers recorded an EV share of 1.5% (down from 2% in September but above 0.7% a year ago).
