West India EV sales & penetration trend (Jan-25 to Jun-25)
Three states in the Western region of India — Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa — accounted for 15.7% of India’s total EV sales in the first half (H1) of the year. Maharashtra secured the second position among all states during this period in overall EV registrations.

- The region captured a 22.4% share of India’s e-2W market, 21.5% of e-4W sales, and 27.6% of the e-bus segment.
- Bajaj Auto, TVS Motors, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Tata Motors, JSW MG Motors, etc. hold the leading share in e-2W, e-3W L5 pax/goods and e-4W segments, respectively.
- e‑2Ws dominated EV sales in H1, accounting for 83.1% of the total EV sales in the region, followed by e‑4Ws at 10.2%.
e-2W sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- Maharashtra sold 109,930 units of e-2Ws in the period from January to June 2025, accounting for a 17.5% share of all e-2W sales across India.
- Bajaj Auto led the e‑2W market across the region, maintaining the top position in all three states. TVS Motor and Ola Electric followed as the second and third-ranked players region-wide. In Gujarat and Goa, Ola Electric and Ather Energy consistently secured positions within the top three OEMs alongside Bajaj.
e-3W L5 Pax sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- During Jan-Jun 2025, Maharashtra sold 3,491 units, Gujarat sold 611 units, and Goa sold 5 units of e‑3W L5 passenger vehicles. Collectively, these sales accounted for 4.9% of total e‑3W L5 passenger sales across India.
- Bajaj Auto led the e‑3W L5 passenger segment across the Western region, followed by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, which held the second position in all three states.
e-3W L5 Goods sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- During January to June 2025, Maharashtra sold 942 units, Gujarat sold 546 units, and Goa sold 14 units of e-3W L5 goods vehicles. Collectively, these sales accounted for 10.1% of total e‑3W L5 goods sales across India.
- Mahindra Last Mile Mobility led the e‑3W L5 goods segment across the Western region, followed by Bajaj Auto & Atul Auto.
e-4W sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- During January to June 2025, Maharashtra led the e-4W market with 12,193 units sold, accounting for 15.1% of pan-India e-4W sales.
- Maharashtra accounted for 70% all electric cars sold in the region during the given period.
- Tata Motors led the e-4W segment across the region, followed closely by JSW MG Motors, which held the second position in all three states.
e-Bus sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- Western India accounted for 26.7% of the total e-bus market share during the period, highlighting its strong presence in the e-bus segment.
- Maharashtra holds the second-highest position, having sold 550 units of e-buses in the period from January to June 2025, accounting for a 26% share of all e-bus sales across India.
- Olectra Greentech dominated the electric bus segment.
e-Goods Carrier sales analysis for the region | H1 CY 2025

- During January to June 2025, Maharashtra led the e-Goods carrier market with 723 units sold, accounting for 19.3% of pan-India e-4W sales.
- Western India accounted for 22.5% of the total e-Goods carrier market share during the period.

‘Goods Carrier’ refers to 4W cargo vehicles, including LCVs and HGVs, as categorised in the Vahan dashboard. ‘E-rickshaw’ refers to low-speed electric 3Ws (up to 25 kmph) for passenger transportation. ‘E-cart’ designates low-speed electric 3Ws (up to 25 kmph) used for goods transportation. ‘L5 pax’ stands for passenger 3W L5M vehicles, while ‘L5 Goods’ stands for Cargo 3W L5N vehicles.
