ThunderPlus and Trinity Cleantech Launch Ethanol-Based 150 kW EV Rapid Charger in Hyderabad

ThunderPlus and Trinity Cleantech have introduced the ME Energy Rapid Charger 150, a mobile 150 kW DC fast charger and generator powered by ethanol. The system functions without a grid connection and can be installed and made operational within 72 hours. It uses ethanol, a biofuel made from plant-based materials, as its only energy source. This launch aims to contribute to India’s efforts to develop a domestic, biofuel-based, and grid-independent EV charging network in line with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.

The charger is designed to operate as a self-contained unit for electric vehicle charging in locations where grid access is limited or unavailable. Compared to diesel-based systems, it can lower CO₂ emissions by up to 80% and reduce both setup time and operational costs by over 50%.

The Rapid Charger 150 can be used for grid-independent EV charging at highways, remote depots, and logistics hubs. It can also serve as a mobile backup for intercity and intracity electric buses, and provide roadside assistance for electric vehicles with low battery charge. The system can supply power in locations such as construction and mining sites where grid access is unavailable. It can also function as a replacement for diesel generators in residential and commercial settings, offering both power generation and EV charging capabilities.

Rajeev YSR, Director & CEO of ThunderPlus, said, “ThunderPlus has always been at the forefront of solving India’s charger-anxiety problem. With the ethanol- based Rapid Charger 150, we are collapsing setup timelines, cutting diesel dependence, and giving our partners a cleaner, mobile, and instantly deployable charging solution. This innovation marks a pivotal moment for India’s EV ecosystem and a proud step towards true self- reliance; and we dearly call it ‘Liquid Electricity’.”

Raj Kumar, Executive Director of Trinity Cleantech Pvt Ltd., commented , “This product is being manufactured by Trinity Cleantech under the patented technology license of ME Energy GmbH, Germany. The ME Energy Rapid Charger 150 is now ready for deployment across India, which offers a scalable, economical, and fast path for companies committed to decarbonizing operations.”

Sri. Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, Olectra Green Tech Ltd., said, “I congratulate both ThunderPlus & Trinity Cleantech for bringing such a transformative solution to the Indian EV industry. This charging station will revolutionize the ecosystem by cutting down high capex, long wait times, and infrastructure bottlenecks; that delay the commissioning
of DC fast chargers. Most importantly, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. It’s a great use- case for Olectra, fleet operators and likes us especially for roadside assistance and depot backup accelerating our bus launches while the grid catches up.”
