Electric vehicle sales in India recorded an overall increase in October 2025 compared to September. E2W sales rose sharply to 1,43,796 units from 1,04,787, while E3W L5 Passenger climbed to 23,949 from 18,491. E-rickshaw sales also grew to 37,117 from 34,081, and E-cart numbers improved to 6,979 from 6,034. The E4W segment saw an uptick to 17,873 from 16,368, and E-Goods Carrier increased to 1,466 from 1,200 units. However, E-bus sales declined to 281 from 343, while E3W L5 Cargo/Goods remained relatively stable at 2,559, compared to 2,438 in the previous month.

India recorded 21,82,494 EV sales from Nov 2024 to Oct 2025, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in October 2025 (2,34,191) and were lowest in Feb 2024 (1,40,171).

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category decreased from 8.1% in Sept 2025 to 4.6% in Oct 2025.

Tata Motors is the clear leader, with over 40% of the market share, followed by JSW MG Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.
