  • EV Sales dropped this month by 29,970 as compared to last month when sharp increase in sales were observed.
  • E-2W and E-3W (Cargo & Passenger) vehicles accounted for 1,04,474 of the total 1,10,580 electric vehicles sold in April 2023.

  • In April 2023, 66,466 high speed e-2Ws were sold, compared to 53,256 units sold in April 2022. Sales of the Electric 3W Passenger Vehicle (L3+L5) reached 33,573 units, a 74 per cent increase over the same month last year.
  • Sales of Electric 3W Cargo Vehicles increased from 2,419 units in April 2022 to 4,435 units in April 2023, while the sales of e-4W rose from 2,249 units to 5,828 units over the last year.

In April 2023, electric vehicles made up 5.48% of the total 2Ws sold across India, up from 4.01% in April 2022.

OLA Electric continues to be top seller of e-2Ws in April 2023 also, followed by TVS Motors and Ampere Vehicles. OLA Electric registered a 72% Y-o-Y increase in sales of their electric scooter. Hero Electric sold 3331 e-scooters during this month and has seen a decline of 51% in Y-o-Y growth.

In April 2023, 56% of the total 3W Passenger Vehicles (L3+L5) sold were electric, up from 53% in the same month last year.

Both L3 and L5 Electric 3-Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, YC Electric Vehicle and Saera Electric continues to be top 3 sellers in the country during this month also.

For the Goods 3W segment, the EV penetration (L3+L5) rose from 28% in April 2022 to 42% in April 2023.

Both L3 and L5 Electric 3Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, Piaggio Vehicles and Dilli Electric are the top 3 sellers of April 2023.

E-4W Sales Trend by OEM
Others include JLR, Porsche, Volvo, etc.

For electric-4Wheeler segment, TATA Motors remained the undisputed leader with 4,388 EV Sales and a market share of 75.3% in April 2023.
