India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in March 2025
In March 2025, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 8.7%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 30%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 24.6% and for 4W, it was 3.6%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W and 3W categories.

In March 2025, the two-wheeler market saw a mix of ICE and EV sales, with Hero MotoCorp leading overall sales (4,35,828 units) but only 1.8% from EVs. TVS Motor (11.1%) and Bajaj Auto (20.4%) showed significant EV adoption, while Honda, Suzuki, Royal Enfield, and Yamaha remained fully ICE-dependent. Pure EV players Ola (23,435), Ather (15,467), and Ampere/Greaves (5,664) had 100% EV sales.
Overall EV penetration in the 2W segment in Mar 2025 was 8.7%, up from 5.6% in Feb 2025.

In March 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler passenger market with 28,966 units, of which 16.4% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (94.4%), Piaggio (26.2%), and TVS Motor (25%), MLR Auto (9.4%) showed significant EV adoption. Meanwhile, TI Clean Mobility, Omega Seiki, and Atul Greentech recorded 100% EV sales, highlighting their commitment to electric mobility.
Overall EV penetration in pax 3W auto (L5) segment in Mar 2025 was 30%, up from 26.7% in Feb 2025.

In March 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo market with 4,875 units, of which 11% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility had the highest EV share at 65.5%, while Piaggio (6.9%), MLR Auto (3.3%), and Baxy (2.4%) showed minimal EV penetration. Meanwhile, Euler Motors, Omega Seiki, and Kinetic Green Energy recorded 100% EV sales, reinforcing their focus on electric mobility.
Overall EV penetration in the 3W goods (L5) segment in Mar 2025 was 24.6%, up from 22.6% in Feb 2025.

In March 2025, 4W Sales were led by Maruti Suzuki with 1,32,335 units, but had no EV presence. Tata Motors (11.1%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (4.2%) showed notable EV adoption, while MG Motor India had the highest EV share at 75.3%. Hyundai (1.8%) and Kia (0.1%) had limited EV sales, whereas Toyota, Skoda, Honda, and Renault remained ICE-only. The data highlights Tata, Mahindra, and MG as key players driving EV penetration in the segment.
Overall EV penetration in the 4W segment in Mar 2025 was 3.6%, up from 3.1% in Feb 2025.
