EMO Energy collaborates with BNC Motors to launch EMO Challenger, an electric mobility platform
EMO Energy, a battery technology company, announced a collaboration with BNC Motors to introduce EMO Challenger, an electric mobility platform designed for last-mile and fleet operations in India.
The partnership combines BNC Motors’ commercial vehicle engineering with EMO Energy’s battery systems to develop a platform intended for daily operations and reduced downtime in urban delivery environments. The companies stated that India’s last-mile EV segment is witnessing increasing utilisation levels, with vehicles operating across multiple shifts. Battery degradation under high-duty cycles remains a challenge for segments such as quick commerce, e-commerce, and food delivery.
The company stated that the EMO Challenger platform is intended for use in urban delivery routes requiring higher payload capacity, extended vehicle usage cycles, 20-minute fast charging capability, and fleet deployment applications.
According to the company, EMO Challenger incorporates:
- Cell-level electrochemical modelling for battery behaviour prediction
- Thermal management systems designed for Indian temperature conditions
- Active balancing battery management system (BMS) architecture
- Fleet-integrated diagnostics and analytics for maintenance planning
Sheetanshu Tyagi, Co-founder and CEO of EMO Energy, stated that “Fleet electrification cannot rely on average performance assumptions. High-duty operations stress batteries at the cell level. Our architecture anticipates lithium plating, material loss, and thermal inconsistencies before they translate into failure. With BNC Motors, we are combining BNC’s expertise in vehicle engineering and EMO’s battery intelligence to work as one system – ensuring predictable uptime over years, not quarters.”
Anirudh Ravi Narayanan, CEO of BNC Motors, stated that “Commercial EV adoption depends on reliability and service access as much as sustainability. This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver vehicles that meet the real operating demands of fleet customers while maintaining strong serviceability standards.”
The platform is also integrated with EMO Energy’s broader energy systems, including charging infrastructure, telematics, lifecycle monitoring, energy storage systems, and two-wheeler assets using its battery technology. The company stated that this integration is intended to address battery performance risks and support financing alignment for fleet operators.
Initial deployment of 1,000 vehicles is planned with select companies in Bengaluru and Gurugram. The companies indicated that phased commercial expansion of up to 15,000 vehicles is planned through 2026.
Founded in 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel, EMO Energy develops battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage applications, and states that its ZEN platform supports 20-minute charging and over 3,000 charging cycles. BNC Motors, established in 2020 and based in Coimbatore, manufactures electric two-wheelers for urban and commercial use, including models designed for higher payload applications and Indian operating conditions.
