Altmin and YLB (Bolivia) to partner for Lithium & C-LFP technology
Bolivia’s National Strategic Public Company for Lithium Deposits (YLB) and Altmin Private Limited, a Battery active materials manufacturing company based in Hyderabad, have formalized a strategic agreement to advance Lithium and C-LFP technology. This collaboration focuses on developing the raw materials supply chain and producing cathode active materials (CAMs) for lithium-ion batteries, aligning with both nations’ industrialization efforts in the lithium sector.
The collaboration aims to contribute to the global energy transition and fulfil lithium requirements for Altmin’s operations in India. The partnership also marks Bolivia’s entry into Li-Ion battery manufacturing, with positive impacts throughout the supply chain, said an official statement.
The collaboration involves sharing scientific expertise for battery materials manufacturing, including a Pilot Plant in La Palca, PotosÃ, utilizing Altmin’s “C-LFP” technology and YLB’s lithium carbonate supplies.
This partnership aims to advance research, development, and piloting activities for Lithium and establish a bilateral Raw Materials Supply Chain. Recently, YLB experts visited Altmin in Hyderabad, and Bolivia invited Altmin to finalize the deal. The signing ceremony took place at the National Mint in PotosÃ, attended by officials such as Raul Mayta, Vice Minister for Exploration and Exploitation of Energy Resources, Marco Copa Gutierrez, Governor of Potosi, YLB representatives, and Altmin’s Co-Founder, Kiriti Varma. The agreement was signed by YLB President Karla Calderón and Altmin’s Founder, Mourya Sunkavalli.
Karla Calderón, President of YLB, said, “This convention provides for cooperation for the technological development of active materials for use in Lithium-ion batteries by implementing a pilot plant in Potosi. The Pilot plant is set to roll this year with a 3 Gigawatt plant envisaged for the near future.”Â
Mourya Sunkavalli, Founder & MD of Altmin, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “Joining hands with YLB is extremely reassuring as it secures our position in the global battery market. This alliance will enable Altmin to produce upwards of 10 GWh of LFP by 2030. The partnership between YLB and Altmin is a significant milestone between the two countries in the critical minerals sector, fostering collaboration and innovation.”Â
Altmin recently launched a Megawatt-scale LFP manufacturing plant in collaboration with ARCI for Cathode Active Material (CAM) production, fostering self-reliance in India’s sector while minimizing external dependence.
