Yamaha enters India’s EV market with AEROX-E and EC-06
India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled its first electric vehicles — the AEROX-E and EC-06 — marking the company’s entry into India’s electric two-wheeler market. The introduction aligns with Yamaha’s broader strategy to expand into sustainable mobility while strengthening its presence in the premium scooter segment.
AEROX-E: Electric Version of Yamaha’s Maxi Sports Scooter

The AEROX-E extends Yamaha’s Maxi Sports scooter lineup and builds on the success of the Aerox 155. It is powered by an electric motor delivering 9.4 kW (peak power) and 48 Nm of torque, supported by dual detachable 3 kWh batteries. The scooter offers three riding modes — Eco, Standard, and Power, along with a ‘Boost’ function for enhanced acceleration and a reverse mode for added convenience. The certified range is 106 km on a single charge.
The AEROX-E features twin LED headlights, LED taillight, colour TFT display with navigation support, and Y-Connect app compatibility for maintenance alerts and vehicle tracking. It also comes with a smart key system, external charging port, single-channel ABS, and disc brakes on both wheels.
EC-06: Urban Electric Scooter for Everyday Use

The EC-06 has been designed for daily city and intercity commutes, addressing first- and last-mile mobility needs. It is equipped with a 4.5 kW electric motor (6.7 kW peak power) and a 4 kWh fixed battery, offering a certified range of 160 km. The battery can be fully charged in approximately nine hours using a standard home socket.
The scooter features three riding modes and a reverse function. Other specifications include front and rear disc brakes, LED lighting, colour LCD display, built-in telematics with SIM connectivity, and 24.5 litres of under-seat storage.
Developed in India with support from Yamaha’s global teams, both models highlight the company’s focus on performance, reliability, and urban mobility. The company has not yet announced the prices or commercial launch timelines for the AEROX-E and EC-06.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said: “India is central to Yamaha’s global growth strategy — a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models and the FZ-Rave mark a decisive step in strengthening our presence and aligning with India’s evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation. Our focus remains on creating value in India — through products built for its diverse customers, supported by India’s vision of Viksit Bharat and guided by Yamaha’s global Environmental Plan 2050.”
