5 Luxury Electric SUVs We Would Love to Drive

As India gradually catches up with the global trend of going electric, we present to you 5 luxury SUVs available in the international market that makes us go weak in the knees. All the cars mentioned in the list are fully electric (BEVs) that produce zero carbon emissions. Aha! the pride of driving these beasts and not emitting pollutants.

1. Mercedes EQC 400 4MATIC

The very first all-electric car from the house of Mercedes Benz boasts of 400 PS or 300 kW power and 760 Nm torque. As the name says, the vehicle is 4Matic, i.e. Mercedes term for AWD, 4 Wheel Drive. A 5-seater that can go 430 km in 1 hour of fast charging, accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h. Price range when current international price converted to INR comes at Rs. 60-65 Lakhs.

2. Tesla Model X Performance

This 7-seater, AWD, SUV from Tesla claims super quick acceleration (0-100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. It can fast-charge at a rate of 490 km/h. The all-electric SUV has a power rating of 451 kW (613 PS) and 931 Nm Torque. The Price Range (UK price converted to INR) comes at Rs. 85-90 Lakh.

3. Jaguar I-Pace

First electric vehicle by Tata Motors-owned luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover. This 5 seater SUV offers an all-wheel drive, has a top speed of 200 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. It can cover a distance of 360 km in one hour of fast-charge. The BEV has power and torque ratings of 294 kW (400 PS) and 696 Nm respectively. Price Range (UK price converted to INR) comes at around INR 53 – 57 Lakhs

4. Audi e-tron 55 quattro

The first electric car from Audi, but rather than Audi ‘going electric’, the firm proudly proclaims that ‘electric has gone Audi’. The all-electric, AWD SUV has been spy testing in India but there is no clarity on a launch date yet. The 5-seater EV can fast-charge at a rapid rate of 600 km/h, offers a top speed of 200 km/h and acceleration (0-100 km/h) of 5.7 seconds. Audi e-tron has a power rating of 300 kW (408 PS) and torque of 664 Nm.

Price Range (UK price converted to INR) comes to INR 60-65 Lakhs; however, as per reports, Audi e-tron will be launched at around INR 1.5 cr in India.

5. Kia e-Niro 64 kWh

The all-electric offering from Kia Motors comes with a Front Wheel drive and power/torque ratings of 150 kW (204 PS) and 395 Nm respectively. This one is a lot lighter on the pocket with a price range (UK price converted to INR) of INR 29-35 lakhs. The 5-seater e-Niro offers a top speed of 167 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. It claims a fast charge rate of 350 km/h.
